- Uses empowerment as a perspective, method and goal
- Bases all activities on the International Plan of Action established in Beijing 1995 regarding women and girl’s empowerment
- Is politically and religiously independent

Resources
- An inhouse staff consisting of approximately 60 women and men with extensive knowledge and expertise
- A world wide international network including over 200 consultants
- Manages some 80 project and assignments in Sweden and internationally funded by Swedish authorities, private donors, UN, EU and the investment banks (World Bank, IDB)
