Kvinnoforum, Foundation of Women´s Forum, was established in 1988 in Stockholm, Sweden. Kvinnoforum is an independent civil society organisation (CSO), and together with Gender Management Institute (GMI), it forms the Kvinnoforum Group. For more information on GMI, please visit this website.

Kvinnoforum, in collaboration with SIPU International, are reinitiating a project concerning regional planning with gender budgeting in the Northern region of the country, especially in the provinces Imbabura, Sucumbios and Esmeraldas. One of the main tasks in this project is Gender budgeting, to which Kvinnoforum has engaged one of the most prestigious experts on the subject, Bethsabé Andia from Ecuador. In this project Kvinnoforum/SIPU International will work very closely with CONAMU- Comisión Nacional de la Mujer, and one of the first activities will be to train the main office personnel of CONAMU in negotiation and sensibility strategies and technical gender budgeting in Quito, Ecuador, says Carolina Wennerholm, Head of International Department at Kvinnoforum.

Preparations are in full preparation for the conference in Minsk, Belarus, on the 24-25 September. The conference is the first of two which aims for the elaboration of a Trafficking Victim Return Protocol. Today, the return process is irregular and without any clear guidelines to support an effective return of trafficking victims and the project is an answer to these problems, says Claes Lyckner, project manager at Kvinnoforum. Participants from Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia and Sweden will attend the conference which is organised by La Strada Belarus, Marta from Latvia, Missing Persons Families Support Center from Lithuania and Kvinnoforum. |

On the 22-23 September 2008, Kvinnoforum and Angel Coalition will organize a regional training and conference in Taraz, Kazakhstan. The conference is organized in collaboration with the Angel Coalition regional partner – NGO Bolashak in Taraz. Swedish experts from the anti-trafficking team in Gothenburg are invited by Kvinnoforum to share their experiences. Local andr regional lawenforcement, social authorities, politicians and representatives from civil society will attend the conference. This is the third out of four conferences and trainings to be held in Kazakhstan during 2007-2008 – all with the purpose to improve the possibilities of combating human trafficking.
The activities are arranged within the Sida funded project “Safe Return and Recovery” (2005-2008), run by Kvinnoforum and the Russian partner Angel Coalition.

Kvinnoforum has been commissioned to conduct a country gender profile for Ukraine and Afghanistan respectively. Both profiles are inputs to the comming cooperation strategies for these countries. The Ukraine Gender Profile has already been submitted to Sida. For Afghanistan, the report is expected due in early october.
