Kvinnoforum, Foundation of Women´s Forum, was established in 1988 in Stockholm, Sweden. Kvinnoforum is an independent civil society organisation (CSO), and together with Gender Management Institute (GMI), it forms the Kvinnoforum Group. For more information on GMI, please visit this website.

Kvinnoforum aims at increasing women's and girl's empowerment at an individual level, in working life and in society at large through strategies for change and targeted activities with and for women, girls, boys and men.

A gender and empowerment perspective is the basis for all work.

Kvinnoforum in Swedish-Russian Forum (28.06.2008)

Kvinnoforum participated in the Swedish-Russian Forum organised by Sida to highlight the 15 year long collaboration between Sweden and Russia. Kvinnoforum has been a key actor in putting Trafficking in Human Beings on the agenda in Russia. Kvinnoforum has worked in close collaboration with Angel Coalition since 2000. Kvinnoforum has also worked successfully in bringing a gender perspective to Russian media through a joint project with Swedish television and the Russian Union of journalists. A series of documentaries on gender equality produced by Russian journalists have been shown to around 50 million Russians.

Regional Training and Conference on Trafficking in Aktobe, Kazakhstan (04.06.2008)

On the 2-3 of June 2008, Kvinnoforum and Angel Coalition will organize a regional training and conference in Aktobe, Kazakhstan. The activities are arranged within the Sida funded project Safe Return and Recovery (2005-2008), run by Kvinnoforum and the Russian partner Angel Coalition. The aim of the project is to develop a more sustainable cooperation between law enforcement and NGOs on a regional and national level in Kazakhstan as well as on a transnational level. Further, the project aims at developing and implementing new standards for the humane treatment of victims of sexual trafficking.This is the second out of four conferences and trainings to be held in Kazakhstan during 2007-2008 with the purpose to improve the possibilities of combating human trafficking.

Russian Journalists in Stockholm: Shooting of Three short films on gender issues in Sweden (04.06.2008)

A group of Russian journalists will visit Kvinnoforum in Stockholm, 8 – 13 June, as part of the Sida funded project Gender and Media in Russia (2004-2008). The project aims at addressing stereotyped reporting and increase the gender awareness within Russian media. During their stay in Sweden, each of the Russian journalists will shoot a short documentary on a theme linked to gender equality in Sweden. The material will be broadcasted in a number of Russian regions and reach approximately 50 million TV -viewers. The Russian project partners of Kvinnoforum are: Russian Union of Journalists, Internews, Moscow office, The Angel Coalition - currently Kvinnoforum's partner in trafficking projects. The Swedish project partners are Sveriges television (SVT) and TV4.

Gender training for Sidaoffices worldwide (15.05.2008)

Kvinnoforum has been commissioned to provide gender training for Sida att Stockholm as well as in the field offices world wide. Kvinnoforum has already provided training in Honduras, Guatemala and Bolivia. Regional trainings will be carried out in May in Ethiopia and in Zambia. Colombia and Nicaragua are planned for September, and a regional training for Eastern Europe is planned for Tirana in October. Trainings in Stockholm are also included.


Gender mainstreaming manual for Sida (12.12.2007)

Kvinnoforum has been commissioned by Sida to develop a gender mainstreaming manual for Sida staff. The manual is under development and is expected to be finalized during 2008.
